Ratha Saptami: A Visual Celebration of Surya with Sanskrit Wisdom
Ratha Saptami, also known as Magha Saptami or Surya Jayanti is a festival celebrated by Hindus to mark the occasion of Sun God, Surya. It is celebrated on the seventh day of the bright fortness of the month of Magha and it signifies the Sun's move towards the northern hemisphere, it is a time of spiritual cleansing and longer, warmer days. People worship Surya by worshipping, taking holy dips and drawing chariots (ratha) as symbols that depict the movement of Surya in the heavens. This is because, it is believed that this auspicious day brings with it good health, prosperity and spiritual enlightenment.
रथसप्तम्याः शुभाशयाः।

मा नः सूर्यस्य संदृशो युयोथाः।
mā naḥ sūryasya saṃdṛśo yuyothāḥ।
May we never be away from the sight of the sun.
हम कभी भी सूर्य के दर्शन से दूर न हों।
